Marcus Rashford has revealed he would choose Cristiano Ronaldo to bale him out if his life depended on it.

The Manchester United forward took part in a Q&A with Gary Neville on his latest episode of The Overlap and was quick to put his faith in the Portuguese star.

Rashford was asked: “You’ve got a last-minute penalty for your life, who do you want on it?”

And without hesitation the England international replied: “Cristiano Ronaldo 100 percent.”

The pair were teammates during Ronaldo’s ill-fated second spell at the club and despite Rashford struggling for form and fitness at the time, the Portuguese star's influence was greatly appreciated by Rashford.

After Ronaldo’s acrimonious Old Trafford exit Rashford paid tribute to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

"It has been an unbelievable experience to play with him," said Rashford.

"He is one of my idols and someone I always looked up to. It's something I can keep with me forever. I wish him all the best and we want to thank him for the things he’s done for Manchester United."

Rashford has become United’s talisman since Ronaldo’s exit, helping the club lift silverware for the first time since 2017.

The 25-year-old netted in United’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final in February.

His goal was one of 30 scored across all competitions in a much-improved campaign for the club, despite Ronaldo’s exit midway through it.

Rashford’s career-best goal return earned him a new bumper five-year deal at Old Trafford, shunning interest from French champions PSG.
